My Story
Hello, I'm Melisa
An ornithologist connecting people with nature through science, education and exploration.
My journey into bird conservation began with a simple curiosity about birds. Over the years, that curiosity grew into a career in ornithology, biodiversity research and environmental consulting. Today, I combine scientific knowledge with outdoor experiences to help schools, individuals andd discover the natural world, understand biodiversity and become part of its conservation.

Birds have been part of my life from an early age, thanks to my uncle, who is a passionate birdwatcher. I remember going birdwatching with him, looking at the bird photographs he took in the field, and admiring his oil paintings of birds.
My own birdwatching journey began during university, when I joined a birdwatching club. What started as a hobby soon became my career. I continued with a master's degree in ornithology, studying bird migration in the Kızılırmak Delta. During my master's, I also received a Rufford Small Grant for Nature Conservation and led a conservation project on threatened Northern Lapwings. I later took part in research projects on the breeding ecology of shorebirds in South Africa.
I then worked as a project manager in ecological consultancy, leading bird and bat studies for wind and solar energy projects across Türkiye. This gave me the opportunity to combine science, fieldwork and practical conservation.
Today, I want to share my knowledge and passion for birds and nature with others. Through birdwatching, biodiversity education and citizen science, I hope to help people discover nature, understand it and become part of protecting it.
